Google Search Console Can Now Track Your Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube Performance

If social media is a serious part of your marketing, and for most businesses in 2026, it should be, Google has just dropped an update that will make it considerably easier to understand how social content is performing in Search.

Google has introduced what it’s calling “platform properties” in Search Console, allowing you to connect your social and video accounts directly to your Search Console dashboard. Once verified, you can see how your Instagram posts, TikToks, YouTube videos, and content on X are performing in Google Search and Discover – things like clicks, impressions, top-performing posts, and the specific search terms people used to find them.

The four platforms currently supported are Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube.

    What you can actually see

Once your profiles are connected, the data appears across three areas of Search Console.

The Performance report shows total clicks and impressions for your social content, along with the queries driving people to your posts. You can filter and sort by post or by search term, and export everything if you want to dig deeper elsewhere.

The Insights report gives you a higher-level view: recent traffic trends, your top-performing posts, and how people are discovering your accounts through Google.

The rollout will be gradual, so if you don’t see the option yet within Search Console, it’s just a case of waiting for it to reach your account.

Why this is worth paying attention to

There’s always been an assumption in marketing that social media performance lives entirely on the platforms themselves – likes, reach, saves, shares. What gets overlooked is that your social content also appears in Google Search results. A well-optimised Instagram reel or YouTube video can show up when someone searches a relevant term, and until now, understanding whether that was actually happening, and driving any traffic, required a lot of guesswork.

Having that data within Search Console, sitting alongside your website performance, changes the picture considerably. It means you can start to see which content formats and topics are earning visibility in Google, not just engagement within the platform.

On the Costa del Sol, where competition for visibility is real and budgets need to work hard, this kind of joined-up data is going to be really powerful.

    What to do now

If you manage social channels for your business, connect them as platform properties sooner rather than later. The data only accumulates from the point of connection, so the earlier you set it up, the quicker you’ll be able to start tracking.

    Going forward

Setting up the connection is only the beginning. Knowing that a TikTok is generating impressions in Google Search is one thing, but knowing what to do with that information, how to build on it, and how to turn visibility into enquiries is where strategy comes in.

At Peppermint, we manage social media, SEO, and content for businesses across the Costa del Sol and beyond. We don’t just create the content and post it, we track how it performs, refine what we do based on real data, and make sure every post, blog, and video is working as hard as it can across every platform it appears on. Updates like this one are exactly the kind of thing we’re already factoring into the work we do for our clients.

If you’d like to talk about your social media strategy, your search visibility, or simply want to understand whether your current marketing is actually delivering, get in touch.
