A Peppermint Christmas Guide To Twitter Tools

Sitting in southern Spain, on the beautiful Costa del Sol, we wondered what kind of ‘stocking filler’ we could give our readers this Christmas. Then we realised that one topic we haven’t touched on much is Twitter. Plus we’d just read the news that Instagram has knocked Twitter off the social media top spot, so it seemed like a good opportunity for a bit of Twitter TLC.

There’s no doubt that Twitter skills are pretty different to the ones we use on Facebook: short and attention grabbing tweets are not always easy to compose and you certainly can’t do things like explain Spanish VAT law in 140 characters, as one colleague pointed out the other day.

So, with the help of the wonderful Social Media Examiner, we’ve selected a few tools that will help you promote your business, or your clients’ businesses.

1. Twitter coupons. Offer special deals using TwtQpon, which is tailored to social media channel use. It has a QR code facility, a white label option to remove any mention of TwtQpon and coupons can be redeemed online and offline.

2. Geo-target your Twitter promotions using SocialBro, which will do just that. You can target customers within quite small, specific locations and it can help you to find people in your locality who are actively interested in your product niche.

3. Reward your most important and loyal followers. How do you know who they are? Use SocialRank to analyse your Twitter followers and receive monthly reports on your followers’ activities divided into Best Followers, Most Valuable and Most Engaged Followers.

4. Schedule your tweets with images. A great graphic in a tweet is a sure way to get attention. Use Twibble to automate your tweets from your RSS feed, whether it is a blog post, a Pinterest image or a YouTube video.

5. Devise an online survey to monitor how customers are viewing your campaign, or your client’s campaign. Use Twtpoll to make it easy and choose one of its four survey types. It’s available in multiple languages including English and Spanish.

We hope we’ve inspired you to consider using Twitter as much more than just a tweet machine – with these tools you can open up your business promotion on this social media channel – Instagram may be winning at the moment, but Twitter still has a lot of life left in it yet.
